A really easy way to do this is to graph this on a graphing calculator, and see where the plotted line intercepts the x axis.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

you need to find greatest common factor of 2x^2 and 18. which is 2 =2(x^2-9) = 2(x+3)(x-3)
