well difference of two squares is given be a^2 - b^2 = (a-b)(a+b) the sum of two square a^2 + b ^2 is not given by any compact formula we can instead for example write (a+b)^2 - 2ab

So what do I do ?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Well the sum of two squares can be factored into complex conjugates, a^2 + b^2 = (a+bi)(a-bi) Have you learned about imaginary numbers in your class? I don't wanna give you info if it doesn't make sense to you. :) heh
