Let's translate the question, first: ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy? (What is today's date?) Let's pretend that today is October 13th. This is how we'd respond: "Hoy es el trece de octubre." (Today is the thirteenth of October.) We can use that same format, and fill in the blanks: "Hoy es el (number) de (month)." Pretty easy, right?
