What's the inverse of 7+x^2+tan(pix/2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

forget it is that really the whole question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or does it have to do with finding the derivative of the inverse?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the start of the question, to find the inverse at x=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that is a different question the inverse at \(7\) is 0 because \[7+0^2+\tan(0)=7\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in other words, \[f(0)=7\] by inspection, therefore \[f^{-1}(7)=0\] by definition of the inverse don't try to find a general formula for it, you will not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks! Just curious- why could you not find a general formula for it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it and see

Fair enough
