Find a cubic function with the given zeros. You must show your work for credit. -6, 5, -2

OpenStudy (nory):

Use the 0 Product property. Write it as an equation with 0 on the right side. Now on the left side, put in a factor that will give -6, namely, (x+6). Do this for 5 and -2. Then you have a bunch of factors on the left side. You can expand the function if you want to.

OpenStudy (nory):

So if I add the factor with the 5 in, it would look like (x-5)(x+6) = 0. Do you see why this is a quadratic equation with zeros of -6 and 5? Now add the factor representing -2 in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=(x+6)(x-5)(x+2) ????

OpenStudy (nory):

That's right! For a problem of this type, you kind of want to use the 0 product property as I did above.

OpenStudy (nory):

The 0 Product Property in reverse.

ok thank you sooooooooo much
