1,1,1 trichloromethane is chloroform. u dont write it 1,1,1 trichloromethane. write just trichloromethane or chloroform. and chloroform is colorless liquid.

my question asking me the 1,1,1 trichloromethane give what colour when it used to test different halogens, such as iodine, chlorine. i dont know so i ask here -.-

sam (.sam.):

Testing with pure halogens such as \(Cl_2\) gas gives white fumes and produces carbon tetrachloride which is colorless. \[CHCl_3 + Cl_2 → CCl_4 + HCl\] Other types of halogen reactions with fluorine, \[CHCl_3 + 2 HF → 2 HCl + CHClF_2\] Again produces white fumes and a colorless gas.
