How much longer is 16 yards than 16 feet (1 yard=3 feet)
to solve this problem you need to change the units of yards to feet so that you can properly compare the two values
so if I have 16 yards of rope, how many feet of rope is that?
I still dont get it, I'm sorry.
if you have 1 yard how many feet do you have?
3 feet?
yes. 1 yard=3 feet if you have 2 yards, how many feet do you have?
6 feet.
yes. and 3 yards is how many feet?
9 feet!
How are you figuring it out? How do you know 1 yd= 3 ft 2 yd = 6 ft 3 yd = 9 ft doesn't it look like if you multiply the number of yards by 3, you get the number of feet?
yes, I see that and if I muliply 16 by 3 I get 48 feet. But when i look at the answer to the problem I am doing it syas that the correct answer is 32 feet. So im a liitle confused.
16 by 3 I get 48 feet. Yes. that is good. 16 yards is 48 feet The question asks How much longer is 16 yards than 16 feet we can change that to How much longer is 48 feet than 16 feet?
If the question were How much longer is 2 feet than 1 foot, you could figure it out: 2-1= 1 foot longer
Okay, I'm totally confused now!
If you walked 16 feet, and your friend walked 48 feet, then your friend walked further than you. How much further? I would subtract to find out.
Oh my gosh! I get it, 48-16=32!
Thank you:)
