What is the distance between the points (-6,6) and (34,49). Leave your answer as a square root. I'd really appreciate any hint or help on this one guys. Thanks!

OpenStudy (theeric):

Do you know how to find the distance between two points?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I know the distance formula but the answer Im getting doesn't seem to be the correct one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(40^2 + 45^2)^1/2 right?

OpenStudy (theeric):

\[d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2+y_1)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting (3625)^1/2 does this seem right to you?

OpenStudy (theeric):

Oops! The formula is \[d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}\] I made that typo. Ah! I think I see an issue. Where did your 45 come from? I'm not sure how you got to there, but that's an issue!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha oh man ur right. For some reason I thought 49-6=45 @theEric

OpenStudy (theeric):

Yeah! Haha, minor error. Did you get the correct answer, now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks a lot bro. stupid silly mistake @theEric

OpenStudy (theeric):

You're welcome! Very easy to make! Congrats, and good luck any more you might have to do!
