In a 9 team floor hockey league, each team plays each of the other teams twice. What is the total number of games played?
there are 9 teams. if they fight with each other once, then there will be 4 fights yes?
90?
I don't know
Look at it from the perspective of one team first, they play nine other teams so that is nine games. If you look at the next team they play the first team (which you have already accounted for in that calculation) so there are 8 remaining teams for them to play. Then the third team has seven other teams to play (the first team and second team are already accounted for above). so you carry on through the 10th team which is accounted for in all of the other team calculations. 9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1= 45 you then multiply this by 2 since this is repeated twice so there are a total of 90 games played.
they play 8 other teams.
i had a very similar problem not too long ago my answer was 72 so i just applied the same principle :) thanks for the medal :)
this answer is incorrect.
oh no...well i am one to learn please explain @Nameless
you have the right idea.. just the wrong numbers. there are 9 teams .. which means the each team plays 16 games. now u need to account for games so u don't count them twice. so its 16 games for team 1... 14 games for team 2.. 12 games for team 3 ... 10 games for team 4... etc.
ooooo ok yes that make more sense.--but of course you knew that lol.
lol. actually i had to read yours first to remember :)
excuse my slow moment so the answer is actually 72?
