Can you please check my answers on point slopes? Find the equation of a line with the given points. (Put your answers in the form y = mx + b.) (7, 2) (5, 4) My answer is y=-x + y Find the equation of a line with the given points. (5, 4) (5, 6) My answer is y= -x + 10

Any advice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that, but..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the same concept for the second pair of points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got y=-x+9 for the first one....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@CalebBeavers you got -x+9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops, the slope is -1not 1 so my calculations are wrong...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we have y=-1x+b, we then plug in a point from the first pair to solve for b and we get the qeustion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the second one your slope ends up being 2/0 since you cant divide by 0 the slope is undefined which means its a vertical line. Every x coordinate is going to be 5 so the equation is x=5
