Well, you need to insert -3 in all places where is "x", so try it.

You would plug -3 in wherever there is an x in the equation so it would look like this (-3)^2-7(-3)+10 so -3 squared is 9 and -7 times -3 is 21 because a negative times a negative is a positive and then plus 10 so you would have 9+21+10 which equals 40
