Can someone please explain this to me ? Solve |p + 2| = 10

OpenStudy (zugzwang):

If that's the case, if p + 2 were 10, it would satisfy the equality, right? But is that the only value for p+2 such that its absolute value is 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh ? lol i need steps to figure it out .

OpenStudy (zugzwang):

Think of it this way: if |x| = 1, it could mean either x = 1, or...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p+2 is either 10 0r -10 so that the abs value will be 10 therefor p = 8 or -12 abs (8+2) =10 and also abs(-12+2) = abs (-10) = 10
