My topic is... "What is the British Class System in the 19th century and how does Jane Austen portray it in her novel Pride and Prejudice?"

My thesis is...
"The British Class System was a social and economic order which controlled the people, keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor. Jane Austen portrays how a rich man and poor woman collide in the way of the system."

The only thing that does make me wonder is...
"which controlled the people, keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor."
Is there a different way you could possibly state this?

I did! :) I changed it to...

"The British Class System was a social and economic order which controlled the people and how individuals lived their lives.  Jane Austen portrays how a man and woman from different life styles collide in the way of the system."
