What are the roles of peripheral and integral membrane proteins?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They facilitate transport in/ out of a cell in different ways , without going into detail .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I could use some details :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well some molecules that need to get in are hydrophillic and need help penetrating the lipid biylayer , others are to large to pass through the cells membrane ( only tiny things can get in that way )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, the refreshment. I remember now. Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are a ton of membrane transort protiens though and I would be here all night , plus I only know about 3/4 s of them , but I'm working on that . check out UC Bercklys series of mcb lectures free to download google for the free lectures or use itunes - there all free and I luv em !
