You're going to need to Find a common denominator to add them. 3 and 4 both share 12 as a Least common multiple. Multiply x/3 by 12. x/4 by twelve, and since you have to balance the equations. You must multiply 1 by 12 as well. It should be trivial at that point to solve for x. you will get 4x+3x=12, which equals 7x=12. x will equal 12/7
