OpenStudy (marsxtc):

So 70% of the total number is 35?

correct

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

Since you know 70% of a number is 35. You can change 70% to .7. All you would have to do is divide 35 by .7 and you get ________

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me another problem please

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 divided by 35

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

35/0.7. Theres a decimal there sir. remember 100%=1.0, while 70%=0.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sharon needs 64 credits too graduate from her community college. So far she has earned 8 credits. What percent of the required credits does she have?

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

Okay percentage. Remember this. If it gives you a total number such as 64 and it gives you a part of it such as 8. All you have to do is divide 8/64. It'll give you a decimal and you can then convert it into a percent. Now whats 8/64?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.125 then i turn it into a percent 12.5 Am I right

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

Yep its 12.5%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok Im catching on with this lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me another problem please

Uh sure i'll try..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A sales person rate of commission is 6%. what is the commission from the sale of $43,000 worth of furnaces

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I do this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

610 divide by 43000

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

Since it wants you to find 6% of 43,000 you know 6%= .06. All you have to do is multiply them together. So remember these things. If they give you a whole number such as 100 and they want 25% of it all you have to do is 100*.25. If they give you a number like 30 and its 50% of the whole number, you have to do 30/.5

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

6.0/43,000 is incorrect. It should be multiplication. You only divide when it says like... 30 is 50% of a number whats the total number? You just do 30/.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2580 is the commission price he gets..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have one more problem for you. Is that ok

OpenStudy (marsxtc):

Yeah..
