If f(x) = −4x + 1, find f(−5). 20 −19 21 −8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you think the first step is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really dont know thats wht i need help with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you see that " f " equals " x " so if " f " is "-5" then what is your first step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it -19?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it is -19. when it says f(-5) it means that all the X's are equal to -5. So plug in -5 everywhere you see X. -4(-5)+1 equals -19.
