Solve the system using an equivalent system. -2x-y=0 3x-y=10 a.) 4, –2) b.) (–2, 4) c.) (2, –4) d.) (–4, 2)

@julianstanley I need help!!! ):

This is just like the other one, they try to say "equivalent system" to throw you off. You know how I multiplied the other system in the last problem by -2? By doing that, I turned the equation into a new equation that equals the old one. So for this one, im going to multiply the top equation by -1, which will turn it into 2x+y=0 Now, using elimination, I get the equation 5x=10, which you solve to get your x coordinate

so x=2 and y= ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it -4??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be -4. Once you get x, plug the value of x into one of the original equations. Ill pick the first one. -2(2)-y=0 -4-y=0 -y=4 y=-4

Yesss!(: Thank you so much! Will you help me with one more??
