problem 1: An invention by Carl Siemens helped make the Second Industrial Revolution possible. What was it? A. an expanded system of telephones B. insulation for telegraph wires C. a way to make large quantities of steel in a gas furnace D. medication from coal tar **My answer: C problem 2: Which of the following became common in middle-class homes during the Second Industrial Revolution? A. televisions B. electric lamps C. stereos D. electric typewriters ***my answer: B
for #1, I think it is C, because he was known for his invention of the furnace right?? and for #2, i'm not TOO sure, but i think it's electric lamps... idk please explain :) thanks!! :D
yes I'm reading that about Seimens now, C looks good
what about for #2?? is it B electric lamps??
A and D are inventions that didn't come until after the second industrial revolution (A is definitely after since it showed up in the late 1940s, D is a bit iffy, but I don't think it was widespread until after 1914)
same with C, stereos didn't come til way later
so it's either B or D...now that I think about it, I don't think I've ruled out D just yet
so B. electrical lamps is my answer??
read the part on electronic typewriters... i don't think this was invented during the time of the second industrial revolution.. whaddya think??
well they were invented, i just think they weren't popular over their non-electrical counterparts
i think it was something to do with the fear of using electricity, that's what it says here anyway http://cultureandcommunication.org/deadmedia/index.php/Electric_Typewriter
so my answer is B. electrical lamps then??
yes it looks it
i don't think many people had an electric type writer from 1870 to 1914
mmk :) sounds good to me!! thanks!! :)
