What is the difference between mangroves and coral reefs?
What do you want to compare first? The size of organisms? The relationship between the aquatic environment and the animals and plants? For one, the mangroves has animals that only come out during low tide but the corals doens't.
by anumals during low tides you mean....crabs?
and some prawns, mudskippers, the lot of them, I used to go visit the nearby mangrove reserve. Also, another difference is the way animals react to predation. Bird fly, but small prawns can hide in corals.
hmm make sense..what about the plants?
um, you mean underwater seaweed? Mangroves have mostly parasitic plants because of the waterlogged soil and lack of sunlight. Examples are the bird's nest fern.
there's an overwater seaweed? interesting
the diagrams i see by the way depict mangroves having trees...
Yeah, the parasitic plants grow on them in the mangroves
thanks. i have to leave now though....maybe i'll ask more later on (in other posts of course0
You're welcome~
