-8x - 3 = -2x + 21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Collect like terms....

Parth (parthkohli):

add 8x

Parth (parthkohli):

add 3

Parth (parthkohli):

divide by 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-8x - 3 = -2x + 21 please help me solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

follow the instructions as @ParthKohli said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add 8x so -3=-2x+8x+21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then simplify -3=6x+21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after that add 3 0=6x+21+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now simplify that 0=6x+24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now do you want to solve for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so subtract 24 -24=6x then divide by x to get x on its own so x=-24/6 x=-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ParthKohli you missed one step

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=-4 you need to make sure and combine like terms you can only have X's on one side :)
