Lost in Graphing high school equations! Example Y+3x-4? Lost explain to me ..Like I was a 3rd grader
Who put this in Linear Algebra?
my math book
U want to know how graph y+3x -4 = 0 or is it y = 3x -4?
yes
graph equation on coordinate grid== y=3x-4
Well you know (I assume) that it is a straight line so 2 points will do. Put x = 0 and find y, then Put y = 0 and find x, then plot those 2 points, draw a line through them..

3 is the same as 3/1 . any number over one is the number
the number glued to your x (in a linear equation) is your slope. Sompetimes this number is referred to as "m". For example y = mx+b
in your equation, y is y, m is 3, x is x, and b is -4.
slope is read "rise over run". What this means is that you have one number over another. You have a 3. But lets pretend thats a 3 over a 1 because 3/1 is the same thing as 3. so 3 is OVER 1. Now remember that RISE sits OVER the RUN. But what does that mean? the word rise means up.....liek rise up a mouintain....vertical. Run means like....a run down the road....horizontal.....flat....think road. | <-mountain/rise. ---- <--road/run
3/1 rise over run. 3 units up (rise) THEN MOVE 1 unit forward (running)
