It's 4 months.  Classes started Sept 5th and go until Dec 12th.  The online X classes are as comprehensive as the university classes and are designed to take up 1 class slot, in a semester couse load of 4 classes.  Of course at MIT the students are known for taking insane course loads fo 5 or 6 classes at a time.

I use Centos ^ (Linux) which I build from a minimal install disc and compile own programs. It makes a very fast and stable desktop OS, using Beaver editor and Eclipse IDE. http://minimallinux.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/centos-6-minimal-install.html
