|x -4|=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+4=8, got it from there or do you need more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+4=8 or it could equal x+4=-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It could, but you are doing absolute value to the x-4, so it would only be x+4 in this sense. You could do it that way too I suppose if it makes it easier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha! well if you do the absolute value wouldn't you need two anwers or do you just need the equation out of the absolute value signs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You wouldn't need 2 different answers. You'd only modify the absolute value part and continue with the problem, because that is the part of the equation effected. If you did x-4=-8, it would be a different answer and a different equation.
