i know it's too soon to be giving feedbacks on the new release....but won't it be better if users can't post in the subtopics or the main topics when there's still an open question in the other subtopics? ...just a thought.....

What I have noticed is, that when students fire questions one after the next it usually is of the same topic. So i doubt that its gonna be a big issue

I thought it was because when there were user made groups, people would spam like crazy for medals and whatever.

There were a LOT of reasons behind the one-open-question semantic. Heh.

The reason we decided to not make open questions count for an entire group family (the term for math and its subgroups) is mainly because we don't want to assume our users are going to abuse it if we think there's a chance there's a valid case to have multiple questions open in a group family. It's a loophole of sorts, but really we're going to be monitoring how its used. If it becomes an avenue for abuse, we'll lock it down.
