OpenStudy (miguel980):

Solvs for x. A.x = 27 B.x = 1 C. x = 25 D. x = 3

OpenStudy (miguel980):

Help please!

OpenStudy (miguel980):

@hartnn please help

hartnn (hartnn):

this question belongs to topic similarity of triangles or parallel lines?

OpenStudy (miguel980):

I'm not so sure if it's about parallel lines but I'm sure about triangles.

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, so can u prove DBE and ABC triangles similar?

OpenStudy (miguel980):

I can't tell if the sides are proportional.

hartnn (hartnn):

can't ? if u prove triangles are similar, then using the fact that sides are proportional, u can get x .....

OpenStudy (miguel980):

SO I compare the side AB to side BD

hartnn (hartnn):

since lines are parallel, corresponding angles are equal can u prove those 2 triangles using this fact by AA test for similarity ?

OpenStudy (miguel980):

What's the AA test? I haven't heard of that.

hartnn (hartnn):

when two pairs of angles of 2 triangles are equal, then 2 triangles are similar by AA test

hartnn (hartnn):

so here u have 2 corresponding pairs which are equal because the lines are parallel, which makes the two triangles similar, got this ?

OpenStudy (miguel980):

OH! Ok I get it. Thanks for the help but I have to go.

hartnn (hartnn):

okk...we'll continue, when u return :)
