In triange ABC, point O is the incenter, AD=2", and AB=10" and BC=13". Find y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iven the word "incenter" , we can concede that if segment BD exist, in which OD is part, BD is median (a line that extend from the vertex angle to the midpoint of the opposite side to the vertex angle). if OD which is part of BD lies on the midpoint, therefore AD=CD. if AD=2 , then CD(y) =2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where is point D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AD=2" AB=10', and BC=13"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know, but where is point D? |dw:1350490219459:dw| And what length does y represent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How does that answer either of my questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can i find the length the length that Y represent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know where y is. Do you see that picture that I drew? That picture contains all the information that you gave me. I don't know where point D is in relation to that picture, and I don't know what line segment y is referring to. If you can't answer my questions to give me more information about what you're talking about, then it is impossible to help you. I've asked you twice where point D is and you've ignored the question. Do you have any concept at all at what I'm trying to tell you?
