Is this function even or odd or neither? f(x) = -9x^4 + 5x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(-x)=f(x)\] even \[f(-x)=-f(x)\] odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so f(-x) = -9(-x)^4 +5(-x) +3 do i follow?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[=-9x^4-5x+3\] x^4 is even

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x,x^3,x^5,x^7...\]odd \[x^2,x^4,x^6...\]even

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the function is therefore neither??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and thanks, those help, I will write them down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but th rules also work i c=dont know why its not the same thou maybe cos we are adding an odd + even=odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its none

OpenStudy (anonymous):

none of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

neither

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!
