Extremely confused ._o Need an explanation, not just the answer, please and thank you :) You cut square corners with side lengths that are whole numbers from a piece of cardboard with dimensions 20 inches by 30 inches. You then fold the cardboard to create a box with no lid. Which of the following dimensions will give you the greatest volume?

hero (hero):

Hang on a sec please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take your time :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dudududu

hero (hero):

Sorry, I have to re-post this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're fine ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm doing other questions while waiting for help on this one

hero (hero):

|dw:1350517772070:dw| y = x(20-2x)(30-2x)

hero (hero):

Now, you can find the max volume by graphing that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me just... stare at this...

hero (hero):

It's not exactly something that is easy to explain on this platform

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I appreciate your valiant efforts :) I think in time I will come to understand this... If I just study what you guys have written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Am guessing the one with the 30 above it has the highest volume

hero (hero):

What?

hero (hero):

Did you graph the function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(30-2x) has the highest volume of the two, and was I supposed to graph (30-2x) and (20-2x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because I did, although it's messy :p

hero (hero):

You were supposed to graph f(x) = x(20-2x)(30-2x)

hero (hero):

You don't graph part of it. You graph the whole thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just going to guess on this one, because it's not becoming any clearer, thank you for trying :)

hero (hero):

You're going to guess? I can't imagine how you plan to do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Eenie meenie miny moe on the multiple choice questions : )

hero (hero):

I don't recommend doing that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't understand it :/

hero (hero):

Never say you can't do anything
