what did the egyptions belive about life after death
They believed that they would be tested and texts such as the "Book of the Dead" were kept or buried within their tombs to help the deceased find their way through the challenges. They also believed that the spiritual life force of the dead were also able to eat and enjoy the trappings of life which explains why the tombs of the well-off like the pharoah contained furniture, food containers, and many other things they valued in life. In the afterlife, gates protected by terrifying creatures marked the path through and if the spirit survived them, they would have their heart weighed at the end to determine whether they were worthy of passing into the final realm of the gods. If not, their heart was consumed by a crocodile-headed demon.
