I never heard of this before.

Going by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autocorrelation

"The autocorrelation of a periodic function is, itself, periodic with the same period"

and by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlogram

"a correlogram, also known as an autocorrelation plot, is a plot of the sample autocorrelations"......"for checking randomness"

Well, the plots over time of the sin and cos will show a high degree of non-randomness.
