If I add substance X, then it will lower the temperature at which water freezes. C. People should eat vegetables. D. Bananas are better for you than chocolate. ***My answer: B is that right??

#2: Kobe is testing whether 100 g of substance A, 100 g of substance B, or 100 g of substance C produces more oxygen in a chemical reaction at 25°C. What is the independent variable? A. the masses of the substances B. the temperature of the substances C. the amount of oxygen produced D. the nature of the substances ***My answer: D is that right?? :)

oh and #3: A chemist measures the amount of mercury in sediment samples from three areas of a river (the source, the midway point, and the mouth). Which of the following is the most reasonable hypothesis for the chemist's experiment? A. If a chemical plant near the source of the river is dumping mercury, then the mercury levels should be highest at the source and lowest at the mouth. B. If a chemical plant near the source of the river is dumping mercury, then the mercury levels should be highest at the mouth and lowest at the midway point. C. If a chemical plant near the source of the river is dumping mercury, then the mercury levels should be highest at the mouth and lowest at the source. D. If a chemical plant near the source of the river is dumping mercury, then the mercury levels should be the same all along the river. ***My answer: A is this one correct as well?? =)

thanks for coming!! DO y'all understand these?? :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

#1 is correct - a hypotheis is an educated guess which must be testable using experiments

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and sorry i posted 3 problems at once :) what do yal think? do the answers i put seem corret?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay!! :D so i got #1 right :) what about #2 and #3?? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do y'all understand #2 and #3??? :) @phi @sauravshakya @ganeshie8 ?? :D

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol :P

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

#2, mass and temperature are controlled variables, oxygen is obvious its the dependent variable, and that leaves only D.. you're correct again !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

#2 also looks correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!! :D and is #3 correct also then??? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Looks good to me.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to me two

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good work ! looks you've mastered the scientific method ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yayy :) thank youuu!! :D really appreciate the help!! @sauravshakya can u pls give @ganeshie8 a medal too? i can only give one :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Already given.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so .. you just starting chemistry ha ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay awesome! haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i am lol and i wans't 100% sure on these so yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so yeah :) thanks again y'all!! byee :D
