This one is tough. I'm not too sure on what the right answer is, but I do know that after WW2, there was a big drive for consumers to buy stuff because the country had been on a war economy for years -- luxury goods like cars were in short supply because everything was geared to building stuff for the war. After the war, factories were retooled to making luxury goods again and there was a big rush for jobs to meet the new demand. I guess it could be true? Sorry for sounding so vague, I'm a little uncertain on this one myself.
