Jazz has been called America’s music. Jazz musicians improvise, or create music in the moment and in response to what others are playing. In jazz, musicians come together to have a musical dialogue. The musicians have to listen to each other and work together. Jazz music also allows each individual musician to showcase his talents in solos. The improvisation, collaboration, and individualism of Jazz music is said to reflect the American identity.
