if you have an equation y=2x+3 you know that the gradient is 2 but if there is a line perpendicular to it the gradient of the perpendicular line would be -1/m m is the gradient of the original equation so the relationship would be that the gradients are negative reciprocals of each other or atleast that is what i would put
