There are some materials online for self study, but if you are looking for a course with lectures and all, you might want to check out the course "Programming Languages" on Coursera ( https://www.coursera.org/course/proglang), sadly you might have to wait for the next run of the course. But it proviedes in the first few weeks a good and deep introduction to sml and functional programming. For self study I would resommend: http://www.soc.napier.ac.uk/course-notes/sml/
