A rental car agency charges $14 per day plus $0.09 per mile to rent a car. Another agency charges $19 per day plus $0.07 a mile to rent their car. How many miles will have to be driven for the cost of a car from agency 1 to equal the cost from agency 2? HELP! HELP!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so you have to find the charges for both agencies would you agree that agency 1 charges (cost)=14 + .09(mile) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I dont get how to write an equation to this though.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so you have to write the equation for what agency 2 charges also, using the same logic as the first agency. then set the two equations equal to each other (because you want to know when their cost is equal) and solve for miles (or x if you'd prefer to use that variable)

Ok thank you, I get it now!
