Solve 8^x=12143

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

here's a hint \[\huge a^b = c \implies \log_a c = b\] for example: \[\huge 2^x = 4 \implies \log_2 4 =x\] does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So logbase8ofx=12143 for the start up?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

nope. look closely at what i did.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

when i changed it into logarithm, the exponent was moved to the right side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

logbase8of12143=x?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AWESOME, thanks for the help.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

now here comes the last part... in my example i had \[\log_2 4 = x\] to get the exact value of x, \[\log 4 \div \log 2\]
