find the equation of the line passing through (-2,3) and parallel to 6x+3y=18 write your answer in slope intercept form. how do you do this problem? i got the first part but i dont know what to do with the (-2,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once you have a point, (-2,3), and a slope, -2, you plug them into the slope intercept equation: y = mx + b x = -2, y = 3, and m = -2 so 3 = (-2)(-2) + b and solve for b. Now that you know m and b you can write the slope intercept equation just in terms of x and y: y = -2x - 1 and you're finished

okay so i should i have the answers y=-2x-1 and y=-2x+6 as my ending answer to the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it only asks you to find y = -2x -1, so including the other equation in your final answer isn't necessary

oh okay i understand it now can you help me with another problem please.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let A(1,2). Find a point B, such that the slope between A and B is negative.
