Im going to solve using elimination 2x+5y=-5 (-2) x+3y=3(-2) Mult. both sides by -2 so you can cancel out the x ______________ 2x+5y=-5 -2x-6y=-6 The x's cancel out. Now Its time to solve for y _______________ 5y-6y= -y -y= -11 y cannot be negative, so you will divide both sides by -1 -y/=-1= -11/-1 ----the why becomes positive and so does 11 y= 11 ----- now were going to substitute 11 for y in one of the original equations Im using 2x+5y=-5 2x+5(11)= -5 2x+55= -5 -55 -55 _______________ 2x= -60 2x/2 = -60/2 2's cancel out leaving x on one side x= 30 your coordinates for this equation is ( 30, 11)
