m∠R = 130 and m∠S = 80. Find m∠T. The diagram is not to scale. http://tinypic.com/r/54ww1e/6
(I will use the < sign for angle since I don't know how to type the angle symbol :( ) Since this is a 4 sided figure, the angles inside will add to 360 degrees (like a square or rectangle). m<S = M<U = 80 (they are equal because of the congruent sides and symmetry) So m<R = 130 and two of the other angles are = 80... and the total is 360. m<R + m<S + m<U + m<T = 360 130 + 80 + 80 + m<T = 360 290 + m<T = 360 So now you can solve for m<T.... m<T = 360 - 290. It's just a matter of using the information you are given and what you already know about the shape, then actually trying to work it out... try to get the next one and post your questions if you run into trouble... it's easier to help if you ask a more specific question.
Note that angle U and angle S have the same value and that the sum of the angles of the quadrilateral is 360 degrees.
70?
Good subtraction :) 70 degrees is correct. But more importantly, realize that if they give you a 4-sided figure, the angles inside will add to 360. If it's symmetric, then you can use that to help... the corresponding angles and sides will be equal. If an angle bisects a larger angle, you know the measures of the small parts are half of the larger angle. Just use what you know... these problems aren't supposed to be too tough, but you do have to think a little about what is going on.
thank you :) really appreciate it .
Very glad to help :) Good luck!
