quick question whats the geometry for 4 points on a sphere satisfying below : 1) all 4 points are on surface of sphere, at equal distance from center. 2) each adjacent point is separated by equal distance and its the maximum possible separation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Equal distance measured on the surface of the sphere or in 3D space (shouldn't really matter, but curious)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea trying to visualize VSEPR.... .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for a molecule wid 4 bonds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk if ive put the constraints properly... , but u get hte idea... hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That what you're talking about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes so its always a solid shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we cannot have some plane figure is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it is a polyhedron with 4 equilateral faces.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there were only 3 points, then they would be coplanar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if only 3 bonds then it can be plane shape, and wont form a good lattice
