OpenStudy (mathhelp346):

(6-12)*5/3^3 I keep getting -30/9, but the answers says -10/9. I think they did some cancelling, but what do you cancel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you need to simplify your answer! ;)

OpenStudy (mathhelp346):

i know that the 3,6,and 12 can cancel, but if i cancel the 3 out from the denominator would'nt i be left with 1^3? and that would make it 1 not 9

OpenStudy (raden):

(6-12)*5/3^3 = -30/27 if numerator and denominator divide by 3, what is the simplify it ?

OpenStudy (mathhelp346):

but 3 divided by 3 is 1 and 9 divided by 3 is 3
