-25+(-20)= I know that this is super easy but I just cant figure it out. I am refraining from using a calculator because that is not helping me.. I need to see it spelled out for my to understand

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

rewrite it as -25-20

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

basically writing +- is entirely a big no no because teachers will mark off points for that

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

so you need to rewrite it as -25-20

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

if the problem was -25-(-20) distribute the negative and it will become -25+20 which is -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25 apples. Add 20 apples. What do you have? 25 "negatives". Add 20 "negatives". What do you have?

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

O___O what! I think about finance when I see a negative + a negative number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So by doing that I see that my answer is -45... So I could show my work by saying -25+(-20) -25-20=-45 ??

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

yupp...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are look at number line if im at -25 and go -20 more the i would be at -45

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

more like you owe 25 dollars and then owe 20 more dollars, so you're 45 dollars in the red.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhh Ok... Great Thanks!! Man I wish I was as good at this stuff as yall are!!
