Just use the half-square-share method. For example: x^2+6x+9=0 Step 1: move the 9 to the other side of the equals sign by subtraction (leave spaces as shown). x^2+6x+__=-9+__ Step 2: Take half-square-share of the middle (linear) term, which in this case is 6. Half of 6 is 3 and 3 squared is 9. Add 9 to both sides (in the spaces). x^2+6x+9=-9+9. Step 4: Factor the left side of the equation and simplify the right side. (x+3)^2=0 Step 5: Take the square root of both sides, solve for x. (x+3)=0 -> x=-3
