Lincoln may have surrendered or have fled, the United States could have been called the Confederate States of America, and slavery could have taken much longer to abolish. The civil rights movement could have taken place a lot later under different people and for different reasons. The America you know today could have turned out to be a very different place.

there would be slavery and segrigation. and the us would have been alot worse off now then what it is now. and i agree with captain_page_turner.
