can someone help me with a citation question Lets say i was a veteran soldier or maybe a mafia member and I'm writing a paper on the similarities of military or mafia lifestyle and tribal societies. Would I have to cite my own personal experience or can I just write it assertively? Example: Soldiers/Mafia members will go great lengths for their com padres to defend the name of their organization. They enjoy cooking and doing the dougie. Now would i need evidence for their hobbies or would my own personal experience be enough not to cite?

you do not have to cite what you ALREADY know. But if you did have to look it up you would need to cite it. BUUUT also you need proof that they enjoy that hobby, because it may not be true for everyone in the mafia or soldiers.

so i would need proof as in citations? this is a research paper by the way

kinda yes, you need to find somewhere that says (for example) veterans love cooking. Or mofia members love golf. then cite were you found it. and BANG you have proof that you are right and your paper is accurate:)
