I really need help figuring out this problem: This equation(P=2500(1.02)^y) represents the population of Carrisville in y years from now. Substitute 5 years for y and find the population for 5 years from now. Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

There is no problem left. The answer is given to you in the problem statement. Just substitute. If that is still unclear, then (1.02)^y means (1.02) multiplied by itself "y" times.

Yes, you are correct. That is the equation. I was merely explaining part of the equation, the exponential part.

Most likely, you are probably allowed to use a calculator and the exponential button. I can't explain how to use your specific calculator but you usually type in 1.02, then the x^y button, then "5" and then "=". Then multiply by 2500.
