Can someone check my answer please?!?! Look at triangle EFG http://assets.openstudy.com/updates/attachments/508571dee4b02a1e48d796bc-renee99-1350923485988-527934810201130031pm1589267478.png Nick has to draw a triangle TUV congruent to EFG. He has only a compass and a straightedge to help him draw the congruent triangle. Explain, using complete sentences, the steps Nick can use to create the congruent triangle.
My Answer: First, he needs to mark a vertex point for his new triangle, which in this case, would be U. Then, he has to set his compass width to the same length of one side of the original triangle. In this case, for TUV we use TV. Then, with the compass point on U, make an arc near where the next vertex of the triangle will be. Now, mark a point V on the arc. This will become the next vertex on the new triangle. TV is equal in length to EG. From here, use the compass to measure the length of the side EF. Place the compass point on U and make an arc in the vicinity of where the third vertex of the triangle will be. Use the compass to measure the length of the side EF in the original triangle. From point V, draw an arc crossing the first. where these intersect is the vertex T of the triangle Finally, draw the three sides of the new triangle TU, TV, UV Done, now triangle TUV is congruent to triangle EFG.
