Determine BC?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you put up a picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think 31 21 or 18?

OpenStudy (raden):

not enough information is lines' AB perpendicular with BD ? if yes, the answer is 17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I uploaded a picture i dont know if you have seen it but if not it basicly says that abcd is a parallelogram (shaped like a kite) AC=16 in BD=30 in ...determine BC. Extra information= BD is the long part of the kite that goes right through the middle AC connects both of the sides going horizontal and BD i one of the top sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is the picture again

OpenStudy (raden):

oke, because a part a kite also... so line's AC was perpendicular with BD (sorry typo error from me above) let intersecion line's AC and BD at point O. so, AO = OC = 8 and BO = OD = 15. next use triple pythagoras number u can find line's AD = BC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its fine thanks for your help im still a little confused though, i mean it gave me multiple choice answers A. 31 inches B. 21 inches C. 18 inches D. (if it cant be determined) What do you think would be the best answer

OpenStudy (raden):

hmmmmmm... if without extra information like u said before, so the best answer is D.

OpenStudy (raden):

but if ABCD is a kite, so |dw:1350928455966:dw|
